Ignite The Pride!

After the 2012 season, the UCMB knows all about fire and lighting up an audience. Now we are asking for your help to Ignite our next project. Our goal is to reach out and inspire young musicians through performances in the community. Performances will include members of the UCMB and UConn's newest group, The Funky Dawgz Brass Band.

The UCMB is competing for $10,000 in prize money in UConn's first crowdfunding competition, Ignite. WE NEED YOU TO HELP US WIN! The winner is determined by the group who receives the highest number of student and young alumni donors by May 3rd. The amount donated doesn't matter, so every dollar counts!

Your donation helps in two ways! Donations collected during the campaign will be used to benefit the University of Connecticut Marching Band and Pep Bands. The Ignite prize money will help to fund the Funky Dawgz Band Music Education Initiative along with other UCMB Outreach Projects. Donations from fans, parents, and all alumni are welcomed and will be deposited into the same fund.

How It Works

Alumnus Dave Barton '61 is, for the third year in a row, challenging students and young alumni to engage in philanthropy by giving back to UConn.

Twenty selected groups have 13 weeks to fundraise for a UConn cause and compete to earn a portion of Dave's $25,000 donation. At the close of the competition, awards will be deposited into the UConn Foundation fund designated by each winning group during the challenge.

The group with the highest number of UConn student and young alumni donors by May 3rd will receive the top award of $10,000. The next six groups with the highest number of donors will be awarded $2,500 to their UConn Foundation fund. The winner is determiend by the number of donors and not the amount of money raised.

All donations from any other donors are also encouraged and will be deposited into the same fund.

Your gift to UCMB Outreach: Ignite the Pride! will be administered by the UConn Foundation, Inc. and deposited into the Marching/Pep Bands Fund (#20266). Donations will be used for all marching band activities like travel to competitions, uniforms, instruments, and band community service activities like the Funky Dawgs Second Line Band Music Education Project Tour.
