It’s official the UConn Huskies will be traveling to Charlotte, North Carolina for the Meineke Car Care Bowl and I am super excited, as is the entire UConn Marching Band. It’s going to be a long bus ride down there, but I already know it’s going to be completely worth it. After a very disappointing game against West Virginia, I’m looking forward to being at an away game, and hopefully helping our team out. It’s going to be a lot of work, planning and making sure that we don’t forget about anything.
Our last home game of the season against Syracuse was awesome. Not only did we win, but the band put on an awesome show for post game, performing the entire show that we learned this year. It was the seniors last performance in Rentschler and I they were all pretty sad about it. Band Banquet is coming up, which I think everyone is looking forward to. I know I am. It’s always a blast to get dressed up and hang out with your best friends. I have already got my dress and I’m ready for it to be here.
On the other hand, we are entering the end of the semester. Finals are coming up soon, and everyone has a lot of work coming up within the next couple of weeks. The band is also starting to think about next year. We have elections for Band Council coming up and we’re going to start thinking about recruiting for next fall. It’s really exciting when we start hearing from High School students who are interested in becoming a member of the UCMB.
We are also starting our recording sessions where we record all of our music from this year. It’s always a little boring for the Color Guard because we usually just sit there while they record, but this year we’re going to most likely be preparing for the bowl game.
Well that’s about it for now. C-ya
