"Make Your Own" Band Day

Your high school band is invited to a great event designed just for your band!

How it works

Bring your band to the UConn Campus any Tuesday, Thursday or Friday this Fall at 3:00 PM and we will create your own "UConn Band Day." Call or Email to arrange a day. We will speak with you about the experience level of your band and what it is you would like to get out of the experience. Then we'll plan activities perfectly suited for what you want to get out of the day.

Your clinic will run from 3:00 to 3:50 PM then your students can observe the UCMB in action! The UCMB rehearses from 4:00 to 6:00 on those days. You can stay as long as you like. Some have chosen to take an "ice cream break" at the nearby UConn Dairy Bar and return for the Full Ensemble part of the UCMB Rehearsal. Others enjoy the warm-up, fundamental refinement session, sectionals, and eventually full ensemble.

What can we do?

The sky is the limit, it could be a:

Basic Marching Clinic
Parade Marching Clinic
Advanced Marching Fundamentals
Show performance and critique

Some bands might want a basic marching clinic from our student leaders; some might want a parade marching clinic. We have a great, unique way to teach parade marching and parade turns on our field! Other bands might wish to perform their show for advice and a clinic from our staff. Then at 4:00 PM the band can watch the UCMB in action. This is a great outing for your band and it will give your students a very special experience. Contact us and we can develop a plan just for you.

What will you get out of it?

The number 1 thing is that you get instruction and, most importantly, modeling from our best leaders. There is nothing more powerful than college students showing their high school peers that they take band seriously, they really try all the time, and they take pride in their band. It can be a tremendous lesson and help students take even greater pride in their own band.
