Thank you to everyone that supported the UCMB HuskyTHON team! This year's team raised $2,055 which was part of the grand total of $343,416.57 raised for Connecticut Children's Medical Center! We were lucky enough to have Josh as our miracle child for the night. Josh had a brain tumor and his entire left side was paralyzed. He fought a tough fight and went through years of physical therapy. He now plays trumpet in the Rockville High School Marching Band and aspires to be part of the UCMB in the future. We hope to see him again next year and eventually on the field with us!
Tim Johnson, UCMB Alum and Director of Southington Brass is attempting to set a Guinness World Record for the largest trumpet ensemble on April 27, 2013 at Southington High School in Southington, CT! The goal of the event is to have 1,200 trumpet players play the National Anthem and other musical selections. Last year's Brass Blast brought together 298 trumpet players and raised almost $9,000 for organizations that benefit students and music.
"The Brass Blast represents everything that is right in a healthy community. The event showcases high quality professionals working and volunteering with today's youth for the good of others...it just does not get any better!" - Dr. Joseph Erardi, Superintendent of Schools, Southington, CT.
All trumpeters, even those who haven't played for a while, are invited to join the Brass Blast. So, dust off your horn, invite all the trumpet players you know and be a part of making history! Register today.
