Alumni Band Day 2011

Come celebrate with fellow UConn Alumni Marching Band members and once again take to the field at Homecoming!

Now in his 21st year with the UConn Marching Band Dr. Mills will again be welcoming back UCMB Alumni and has invited the UCAMB to perform with the marching band for the UConn vs. South Florida Homecoming football game on Saturday, October 15 (game time is TBA). The Alumni Band will rehearse in the morning at Rentschler Field, tailgate for lunch, re-assemble at the UConn Alumni Association's Spirit Village tent to perform a few numbers, and then march into the stadium with the UConn Marching Band. UCAMB seating is adjacent to the Marching Band in the stadium.

UCAMB members are also invited to the Homecoming Barbeque hosted by the Alumni Association at Rentschler Field. More information can be found at UConnAlumni.com/Homecoming.

Homecoming/Alumni Band is October 15th - here are the plans:

October 14th in Storrs – there are 3 events:

1) Practice at Storrs. We need alumni to volunteer to be "captains" and practice with the UCMB to learn the drill. Those who can make it will teach the rest of us on Saturday when we rehearse with the UCMB at the Rent.! If you can attend rehearsal on Friday please post pamucamb01@yahoo.com

2) The UCAMB will be awarding three UCMB members $500 scholarships at the Alumni Association Awards Banquet. Tickets available through the Alumni Association

3) A reception for UCAMB alumni and UCMB seniors at Chuck's Margarita Grill http://www.chucksstorrs.com/ will follow rehearsal. If you can make the reception please post pamucamb01@yahoo.com to be added to the guest list.

October 15th – Homecoming at the Rent!

Now in his 21st year with the UConn Marching Band Dr. Mills is again welcoming us back and has invited us to perform with the marching band for the UConn vs. South Florida Homecoming football game (game time is TBA).

The Alumni Band will assemble in our designated area of the parking lot (time and lot TBA) and then fall in to march to the Rent for rehearsal with the UCMB. Alumni can tailgate for lunch in our assigned parking area – or - we are also invited to the Homecoming Barbeque hosted by the Alumni Association at Rentschler Field (see registration page below for more info)

We will assemble at the UConn Alumni Association's Spirit Village tent to perform a few numbers, before marching into the stadium with the UConn Marching Band for the game.
UCAMB seating is adjacent to the Marching Band in the stadium. Alumni who are marching get into the game free of charge. If you have family/guests who wish to attend, we have a block of tickets that can be purchased (see registration link below)

We ask that you Register Now for Homecoming!

While admission for those who are performing is free, the UCAMB does collect a once a year registration fee/dues ($5/$10). This money goes to our UCAMB account at the Alumni Association to support scholarships for UCMB members and to pay for our functions.

We had a great turnout for homecoming last year, so we were able to give three rather than two scholarships this year, and we were able to double the amount of the scholarships to $500! It would great if we could give more next year, so please do register and support the UCMB.

Participation Information

If you will be participating in the halftime performance, admission is complimentary and seating is provided in Section 115 next to the band.

While admission is complimentary for alumni who are performing, the UCAMB does collect a fee from those who attend alumni band. The money we collect from this fee is used for UCAMB scholarships and to help defray our organizations operating expenses.

Tickets are $35 each and a limited number are available. Tickets must be purchased by Thursday, October 6th.

When you register, you can also donate to the Allan E. Gillespie (music scholarships) and/or David Mills (marching band support) funds. We are closing in on our $20,000 goal for the Mills Fund! If you can make a donation to help get us over the top please do!
